LAS is a mission-oriented translational research lab focused on the development of new analytic technology and analysis tradecraft. The new technologies will help us understand the underlying scientific principles and analytics required to meet the complex and dynamic challenges presented by “Big Data.” The new tradecraft will help us discover, understand, and enhance critical aspects of intelligence analysis. These new technologies and tradecraft will be brought together through the development of user experiences that allow engagement with the data, tools, and techniques to achieve mission outcomes.

How Does LAS Work?

LAS is an immersive collaboration. Our goal of rapid innovation, prototyping, and evaluation can only be realized through close, ongoing collaborations between government, industry, and academics.

LAS brings the expertise of non-traditional participants to bear work on intelligence community problems. The challenges posed by the changing analytic environment are ubiquitous, and at LAS, academic and industry collaborators have an opportunity to bring their expertise to solve mission-relevant problems.

LAS leverages the Data Science expertise found in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, building on a storied history in analytics research and development. With its meaningful problems and collaborative environment, LAS serves as a catalyst to bring together participants from a range of disciplines to tackle the problems of “Big Data.”

Innovation & Integration

LAS is developing Technology-Enabled Tradecraft and Mission-Inspired Technology. We support our tradecraft development by bringing together technologists and practitioners from government, industry, and academia to develop tools that are informed by mission needs. LAS collaborators have the opportunity to develop state-of-the-art technologies and to demonstrate them against relevant exemplars across multiple domains. The sum of these efforts is one-of-a-kind opportunity for integrated innovation that will prepare the Intelligence Community to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

Connect With Us

LAS aims to bring together a multi-disciplinary group of academic, industry, and government researchers, analysts and managers together to re-engineer the intelligence analysis process to promote predictive analysis. LAS will do this by conducting both classified and unclassified research in a variety of areas of research. The research done in this area will serve as the foundation for mission effects and integrated back into the enterprise.
